Natural Child Photo Tips #5
Props and toys can save the day!
Have you ever needed to get a shot of your child, and all you can get is that fake, processed cheeeese look they give you (that drives you mad)? Yes, we’ve all been there. But there is a solution:
Give them something they like. I’m not talking bribery here. I mean something they already have, that evokes an emotion you would like to see. A little manipulative? Hey - we’re parents. We’re entitled.

Put a cape on your boy and hand him his sword. You will get dynamic pictures. Remember to experiment with all different angles, while they’re playing. Hand your daughter her favorite baby and a blankie. And don’t talk to her at all. She will take you on a very sweet journey. Take your kids together in the backyard and give them one big box. They will be contained! And they won’t be thinking about smiling, they will just be doing it – together!
Just keep the toys simple - plain is photogenic. A little red wagon can get you tons of great shots. They are irresistible fun.
A child’s imagination is endless. If we are observers instead of directors, they get to be in charge of their make-believe world.
Happy playing!
